Hey WebSphere Application Server Service Integration Technology users - AKA Service Integration Bus(SIB) users. Have you ever had a problem with your message flow? You may see different types of message flow problems in Service Integration Technology like:
-
Messages not arriving or not being consumed
-
Poison messages
-
Expired messages
-
Messages sent to exception queues
-
Lost messages
-
Messages stuck on queues
-
Failure in any WebSphere Application Server component which can cause a message flow problem
-
Problems due to Message producer
-
Problems due to Message consumer
-
Problems due to invalid configuration
The whole Service Integration Bus technology can be complicated. So, if you have encountered a message flow problem then you probably have called IBM Support for help getting your message flow problem solved. However, in many cases did you know that it is very likely that you did not need to do that. The chances are very good that you had all the information you needed to resolve the problem, on your own, but perhaps you just did not know it. Maybe you knew the information was there and just did not know what to look for or what to do when you found a problem.
Many of the message flow problems are caused by either configuration or runtime issues or both. In an effort to help you help yourself, we have created a new Knowledge Collection document to combine a list of documents dealing with message flow problems and what you need to do to resolve them. We have included several Technotes that deal with message flow problems.
We also wanted to provide you with a list of some other information to help you learn more about this area. So we also included a number of links to webcasts replays or other documents and publications. These other items and links should help you better understand message flow problems and the Service Integration Bus technology in general. Then finally we included a list of other WebSphere Application Server knowledge collections that offer similar guidance on problems in other areas. If you have not checked out this document yet, you should take a couple minutes just to look and see all the great information that will be right in one spot in case you ever have to deal with message flow problem issues:
Knowledge Collection: WebSphere Application Server Service Integration Technology Message flow problems and their solutions
Hopefully this will save you time and the trouble of having to open a PMR if you know where to find the information and what it means. If you know of any other message flow problems issues we did not cover in this Knowledge Collection, please let us know and we will be very happy to include them also.
