What’s the status of MQ on HP Nonstop (Tandem) platform?

Most anyone who uses WebSphere MQ on HP Nonstop knows that the current release is still MQ version 5.3 (fixpack 126.96.36.199 is the latest available at this time).
WebSphere MQ for HP NonStop Server V5.3 was GA on 28-Jul-2006 and there has been no End of Service (EOS) announced. IBM support of MQ V5.3 for HP Nonstop will continue until at least the second quarter of 2016 with the ability to obtain Extended Service for a further 3 years. IBM WebSphere MQ will support new HP NonStop releases and be qualified on new processor releases on the HP NonStop Itanium platform.
Currently the following HP platforms are supported:
MQ V5.3 is out of support for other platforms; MQ V7 and above is required for most distributed environments.
With the newer MQ versions, additional features were introduced and I'd like to discuss which functions can be used on HP Nonstop.
Queue managers and clients need to be at V7.0.1 level or higher to participate fully with the multi-instance Queue Manager support. Attempting to connect pre-V7.0.1 clients and queue managers (including HP Nonstop V5.3) to a multi-instance queue manager is not supported because the connection namelist is not available. MQ V5.3 only allows for one connection parameter to be specified in the conname attribute so multi-instance configuration on the HP NonStop platform is not currently an option.
However, there is a client that supports HP NonStop MQ features at the MQ V7.1 level including support for pTA, COBOL and JMS as well as integration with TMF. The "MAT1: WebSphere MQ client for HP Integrity NonStop Server" SupportPac can be downloaded from:
The MAT1 client enables messaging applications running on HP Integrity NonStop Server to connect to a queue manager that is running on another system. This is a Category 3 MQ SupportPac and thus is covered under MQ defect software service support.
The client will interoperate with all the currently supported WebSphere MQ server products at V7.1 level or above or V5.3 for the HP NonStop Server; this may allow for client reconnection features to be implemented. If a client application on HP Nonstop loses connection to a MQ V7.1 or later queue manager, it can use MQ automatic client reconnection. The MQ client automatically reconnects when a connection is broken. It can connect back to the same queue manager or another equivalent queue manager.
The client is in fact an extended transactional client, so it can use TMF to coordinate global units of work. The Information Center (soon to be the Knowledge Center) includes more information about this client and also the sample programs that are available. IBM is committed to providing MQ capability on the HP NonStop Platform and the client will be updated following major MQ releases to allow HP Nonstop users timely access to new MQ capabilities. The existing MQ version 5.3 will continue to be supported for HP NonStop but you can now also use client applications if additional functionality is required.
