New IBM MQ V8 certification exam is available

If you are an experienced IBM MQ administrator, it’s likely that you have been certified in the past on one the previous versions. It has been many years since I attained my first MQ certification and 5 years since the most recent, which was MQ V7.
But it wasn’t quite so easy and simple, the questions are varied and do require extensive knowledge of the product including familiarity with additional components such as File Transfer and Advanced Messaging Security (FT and AMS). I knew from past experience that the certification tests are challenging. This time I was met with more questions about PCF, activity tracing, and the z/OS platform than I had anticipated. In hindsight, I should have expected that more z/OS questions would be on this test than I remembered from previous versions; many of the V8 changes were for MQ enhancements on system Z.
Although I breezed in confidently, by the end when it was time to push the submit button, I had some trepidation. The composers of the test don’t make it effortless. I was quite happy (and a bit relieved) when the passing score showed on the screen.
