Since WebSphere is such a vast product mix and comes in many versions with varying components and different complexity, it is sometimes difficult to find the exact content you are searching for when browsing the IBM Knowledge Center. A typical search will likely bring back the correct topic but for the wrong version or component.
However, taking what we have learned to narrow down searches in a web browser, we can apply the same parameters in the IBM Knowledge Center search feature.
Google Search Operators - Google Guide
First note that all documentation for a particular version of a product will reside under the same base URL. For example:
WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V7 Distributed
WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V7 IBMi
WebSphere Application Server V7 Base
Using this URL, you can narrow down searches with a basic search operator like "inurl:".
Example: Need to find "thread pool settings" for product/version "WebSphere Application Server ND V7 Distributed":
Browse to the IBM Knowledge Center:
IBM Knowledge Center
Click "Add products..." and select the checkbox for:
WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment -> WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 7.0.0
"thread pool settings inurl:ibm.websphere.nd"
All results will include matches for "thread pool settings" under the topic "WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 7.0.0>Network Deployment (All operating systems)"
If "inurl:ibm.websphere.nd" had not been included in the search, all related entries for "thread pool settings" pertaining to "WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 7.0.0>Feature Pack for SCA" come to the top of the (long) returned search list.
