How can I check if my backup on PureApplication System version 2.0 is still running?

There are different ways you can check if your backup is still running in version 2.0.

You can check the backup progress on dedicated “Backup and Restore” page under System Console -> System. See my earlier post: Did you know you can follow your backup progress on PureApplication System version 2.0?

Another way to check the progress of your backup is by going to System Console > System > Job Queue page and clicking the “Show Details” icon for the backup job.

These two methods are especially useful if your backup job ran overnight and you want to check the status in the morning:

Method 1
Go to System Console > System > Events and filter the list of events for events that contain “CWZIP95” which is reserved for backup component. It is important to remember to change Closed Events from “Show active only” to “Show all”. Refer to the following posting on dW Answers: Where have my events gone?

The successful system and component backups are logged below:

• The event text of CWZIP9511I indicates that the backup has started.
• The event text of CWZIP9512I indicates that the backup has completed.
• The event text also contains the backup configuration name.

Method 2:
Go to System Console > System > Backup and Restore. Then select a backup configuration that you are interested in and click the “View History” button.

This is an example of the dialog that is shown when you select a particular backup configuration and click the “View History” button. You can see when the backup was started (backup start time), how long the backup job took to complete (duration), how much data was transferred on the backup run (size) and if the backup job completed successfully (status).
