Hey! Thank you to all who attended the WebSphere Partner Gateway (WPG) Technical Exchange about UPDI Validator on October 12. For those of you who missed it, here is the link to the presentation so you can have the materials too.
To help you master the concepts, here is a case study:
Client's WPG machine is at 6.2 base level (General Availability or GA) with a new install and she has never used UPDI before on this machine. What can she do to enable the WPG UPDI validator on this machine?
Since this client has never used UPDI on this machine before, she should download the WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WPG UPDI code along with UPDI Validator code for her release / fixpack level. She would need to go through the CONFIG, DEPLOY, and VERIFY modes to enable the UPDI Validator. After her response file GUI is enabled, she can go ahead and use it to move up to WPG 6.2.1 fixpack 1 from her WPG 6.2 GA machine.
The drawback of solution 2 is you have to setup the non-validator WPG UPDI one more time to get to WPG 6.2.1 Fixpack 1 before you can benefit from the response file GUI on top of WPG 6.2.1 Fixpack 1!
