You have a good point there.
Except, maybe you don't. It really depends.
That's not really an answer you say.
To start with, lets outline what Business Rule on Bluemix provides, and what it doesn't.
Number one: you have to be okay with less control.
I repeat, you have to let go.
Now if you are one of those type A personalities who love to break things apart and configure them to get them *just* right, exactly as you want them, then maybe the Business Rules Service in Bluemix is not the way to go.
For example, you cannot configure the size of the XU pool.
Breathe again. That is right. If you are one of our ODM geeks and know exactly how to tweak the XU pool to just the right size and exactly the right timeouts so your rulesets are never flushed out of memory but do not consume needless resources either, then no, Business Rules Service on Bluemix does not allow you the pleasure to make it just so. You just have to trust the Business Rules Service to take care of that.
So you say, where is the joy?
The joy is in the letting go. Let the Business Rules Service worry about it. Let it host the Rule Execution Server. All you have to do is deploy your rules.
Wait, you mean, no application servers?
That's right. No more struggling with application servers and their configurations and their timeouts and their 101 little tweaks and features.
All you have to do, is put your rules out there. Deploy them on the Rule Execution Server of the Business Rules Service, and see the pleasure of them working.
So now you love the Busi
It's all HTDS. It's all through Host
ODM offers you absolute control. I know. I know. It does. But Business Rules Service in Bluemix offers you the freedom to get out of work early and maybe go for a hike on a weekday, and still look good in front of the boss.
And maybe you can have both! Imagine that.
