IBM® MobileFirst Quality Assurance (MQA) takes mobile application development life cycle to the next level by providing neat features such as mobile application testing, user validation, and streamlined quality feedback with sentiment analysis, over-the-air build distribution, automated crash reporting, in-app bug reporting, and user feedback. In a fragmented and complex environment, this product helps you to provide quality assurance for your mobile applications. This blog takes you through the deployment and configuration of IBM® MobileFirst Quality Assurance on-premise offering. It should be noted that MQA is also offered as a SaaS offering through IBM Bluemix platform.
This post will help users of MQA to deploy and configure on-prem version of the software to their environment. To understand the supported integration and system requirements you are encouraged to review the "System Requirements for IBM MobileFirst Quality Assurance" document.
Loading VM image
Running the setup wizard
Note: all the configurations relevant to the IP address, host name, or domain name are recorded in "local_settings.py" file. To understand the properties and the purpose of each property you are encouraged to read the relevant section "Properties of the local_settings.py file" in the product documentation.
Manually configure the built-in firewall
A firewall is included with the VM image and it is pre-configured so that the ports that are required for the MQA service are open. However, you can manually configure the built-in firewall to control access to the service from both inside or outside the enterprise. To understand how to manually configure the build-in firewall please review "Manually configuring the built-in firewall" in the documentation.
Creating and modifying super user
The IBM MobileFirst Quality Assurance service can have one or more superuser accounts who have privileges to all mobile apps and actions in the service. You can create the superuser account after you install MobileFirst Quality Assurance. You can also change the password or email address for the superuser account. Please review section "Creating and modifying the superuser account" in the documentation to understand the steps to create or modify superuser.
Starting IBM MobileFirst Quality Assurance
Once you have completed the installation process, then you must start the services that are required to use the product.
At this point you should be able to access IBM MQA application through a web browser. The url to access the application is based on the provided values during the configuration discussed above. As mentioned at any time you are able to change the configuration by running the relevant wizard or by modifying "local_settings.py" file.
