When IBM Business Monitor is installed, Java Technology Edition 6 is automatically installed along with the required version of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment. IBM Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) components also require a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to operate.
In single Cognos BI side, you can change the Java version in situations where you want to use IBMCognos BI components with an application server that requires a specific JRE version or you already use a JRE version with other applications.

IBM Business Monitor does not support the use of different Java versions within the same cell. All deployment environments within a cell must use the same Java version. Existing profiles, new profiles, and commands should all use the same Java version.
If you are using an Oracle database and you create a new deployment environment, all of the Oracle JDBC providers for the new deployment environment are automatically configured to use the correct Oracle JDBC driver for the Java edition that was selected.
After making the changes, all your IBM Cognos BI components and IBM Business Monitor existing profiles, new profiles and commands can start to use Java SDK 7.*.
