IDC, a research company that tracks technology sales, expect tablet sales to increase by 54 percent this year. 68.7 million units were sold last year and they project 106.1 million units to be sold this year. A large chunk of those units belong to Apple's iPad, coming in at a whopping 54.7 percent of all tablets. Amazon's Kindle Fire comes in second with 16.8 percent of the market share. With the help of the Kindle Fire, Android based tablets are catching up to the iPad with 44.6 percent of the market share. At this rate, Android tablets are set to surpass Apple in unit sales by 2015.
