From the Maximo Support Desk - Current Balance Field Does Not Update on Inventory Usage Record in STAGED Status
It's been observed by Maximo Users that the Current Balance field on an Inventory record does not update when there is an Inventory Usage record for the item which is in STAGED status. This is not an error condition and there is an explanation for this condition. So... when DOES the Status Change on an Inventory Usage Record Update the MATUSETRANS.CURBAL? The summary is that an Inventory Usage document will only update the matusetrans table when the status of the Inventory Usage document is updated to Complete status. When the Inventory... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Notes On WSCH Status
Can't I Just Create A Synonym Value For WSCH Status? Spoiler Alert: You can create a synonym value for this in the WOSTATUS domain, but it will only function exactly as the native WSCH status... in the same manner that it is used for PM records only. The WSCH status is only used by the PM application, and only PM-generated Work Orders can be initialized with the WSCH status. It is essentially a synonym of Approved, and can be selected on the PM record as an initial status for any Work Order that gets generated from that PM. ... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Correcting Incorrect Date Entries On Qualifications
It's possible to correct the Effective Date or Expiration Date on a Qualification if they were entered and saved with incorrect values... The functionality of the Qualifications module is based on a calculation of the Duration and the Effective Date field values, which are entered by the user. If one, or both of these fields is entered incorrectly, then the Expiration Date for the Qualification can be misrepresented. The Expiration Date field cannot be edited once the record is saved, but it is possible to work around this so as to... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Functional Difference Between Moving and Returning an Asset
A user can either move or return an asset that has been either transferred, issued, or otherwise moved to a different location. It is important to know that there is a functional difference as well as a financial/accounting difference between the application actions of moving and returning an asset. Awareness of this may determine whether the Maximo User should use either the Move/Modify Asset function or the Return Asset function. The return asset function should be used instead of the move/modify asset transaction when an item has been... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - ACM Technical Record Creates Asset But No Work Order
Maximo clients have reported that in some scenarios, that the ACM Technical Record does not create the expected PM Work Order. It is observed that the corresponding Asset gets created only. The most likely reason for this condition is that the values of the Effective Date and Comply By Date fields are the same on the Maintenance Plan of the Technical Record. If the Effective Date value is the same as the Comply By Date value, then this causes the Frequency Date on the resulting PM to be set to 0. These values must be different. The... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Actual Tool Cost on a Work Order
Maximo Users have asked if there is a field in the database that can be used to report the actual tool cost on a Work Order? This question is based on the fact that several of the View Costs, or other report-type dialogs in Maximo applications do not get data from persistent fields. There are a number of fields in the Maximo database that store costing data for Work Orders. Maximo Users or Administrators may need to create a report which includes a display of what the actual tool cost is on a Work Order. It may not be immediately apparent to... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Allowable Status Changes for Work Orders
It is not possible to change a Work Order Status to any other Status. I've compiled a list here as a guide to which Statuses will be allowed, or available in the Status lookup for each status. In other words, the list of statuses that will display in the lookup for the current Work Order is conditionally based on the current status of the Work Order. The summary is that the Work Order Change Status dialog will not display all Status values at all times. The following is a list of allowable status changes for... [More]
