BiLog: Performance Enablers….Schedule Only Reporting …80/20 Reporting Rule
In last week’s BiLog , we talked about report usage, and how
you can utilize a variety of mechanisms, including reports, KPIs or result sets
to monitor which reports your users are and are not using. Report usage information is also critical in identifying
your reports which take to longest time to execute, as you want to insure these
are optimized for report performance. Why is this important?
Like so many things, reports follow the 80/20 rule, where 80% of your
report processing is done by only 20% of your reports. So as you... [More]

BiLog: QBE – Extending thru QBR
QBE (Query by Example) is an excellent way for you to quickly take the results of your application query and/or filters and export them to Microsoft Excel. You can then view each of the list tab fields, and perform additional analysis, combine the data with other queries, print, or save. However, often users want to see additional fields in the exported data. And the fields that one user may want to see are not the same as fields another user may want to see. You can modify the list of fields that displays with the Application Designer. ... [More]

Extending Drilldown Limit in Maximo
Recently there are some requests for information on, how to increase the Drilldown limit in Maximo and I have created this document that explains how to do that. Drilldown Limit can be changed in two ways in Maximo, one is global level that effects for system and another way is by modifying the value (overriding the global value) for the tree control of the specific Drilldown. You can review the Drilldown Limit or https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/maximo/Drilldown+Limit+in+Maximo

Maximo Email Can Now Send Partial Messages
Problem In Maximo we provide the capability to send Role based emails. A role is defined in the Roles application and is typically attached to a communication template while sending an email. Behind the scenes Maximo resolves the email addresses of the members in a role and sets the "TO:" field with a list of email addresses. However there is always a chance that one or more of these addresses on the list could be invalid due to a variety of reasons. When there are one or more invalid email addresses on the "TO:" list... BiLog: Flexible English Bulldogs...Report Parameter Options and Benefits
While getting our English Bulldog ready for Halloween on
Saturday (reference last week’s BiLog entry on an unexpected snow storm which delayed
the Halloween Happenings!)....I kept thinking that in contrast to Max’s very
stubborn demeanor….his costume is amazingly simple and flexible. Max is a reindeer for Halloween, a reindeer
for Christmas, and a reindeer again when we ring in the New Year! Just like Max’s diverse, flexible reindeer costume, Maximo reports
are very flexible in that they can be executed against three different sets... [More]

Keeping a BDI on your Assets.
Maximo
Asset Configuration Manager (ACM) is designed to manage the
configuration management requirements of complex assets operating in
the aerospace, defence and rail sectors where safety and regulatory
compliance is of primary importance. One
of the central components of Maximo ACM is the Build
Data Interpreter (BDI). At
it's most basic level the BDI analyses configuration managed Assets
position by position to ensure that they comply with the
configuration rules established in the corresponding model. That
said the BDI is a pretty... [More]

How to work with Dynamic Scheduling on Maximo Scheduler 7.5.2
Dynamic Scheduling were introduced in Maximo Scheduler 7.5.2 release That allow clients identify new emergency work that has entered the schedule. Alert the user that emergency work has been found and that there are resources identified that are available to be assigned. Allow the user to choose an appropriate available resource or optionally make the assignments automatically. Users can configure what constitutes an 'Emergency' work order within their environment. An example bringing Emergency Work Orders on Graphical Assignment... [More]

BiLog: Brownies, Bronies and Adding LD to ROS
One W separates brownies from bronies. Brownies are incredible, delectable chocolate goodness, while bronies are followers of a children's TV Show. Bronies and their collections of Little Ponies have become increasingly popular in the Software Development world thru their features in Wired Magazine . While I’m not a bronie, whenever I hear about software and collections, my mind jumps over to data collection. Last week, I talked to a client about long descriptions, which are available in the various Maximo applications to collect large... [More]
