Marking Main Record as Modified while Modifying Related (Child) Records via Automation Scripts (v7.6)
When you modify, i.e. add/update/delete, child records (MBOs) related to a main record, the parent object might not always require saving, in other words it might not always get marked as "Modified". For default applications, the application forces the user to SAVE the main record because this functionality is implemented in the original MBO classes of Maximo. Unfortunately, when you have your custom objects used in your custom applications, you can face such use cases that you modify the child records and the main record is not... [More]

Large files are generated in TMP directory when reports run
If large files are getting created in a tmp directory all the time, or some of the time, it is because users execute long running reports that cause these files to get created in the temp directory. Even Query-based reporting, or QBR, can cause this to happen. However, this is by design. Generally speaking, Birt will clean up after itself. It is only an issue once these large files start filling up the drive and the server runs out of space. Two known causes when these temp files do -not- get auto... [More]

Setting up Weather in Scheduler Plus.
Maximo Scheduler Plus now allows for the use of your local weather to be used when scheduling work orders. For weather to work within in the application a weather api is required as well as some configuration within a few of the applications. I've created a DCF document that outlines how this can be done, the link below will take you to that document. Link to DCF: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21999269

Migration Manager: Migrating Automation Script And Launchpoints
Have you ever tried using Migration Manager to migrate Automation Scripts ? Had you noticed that even if you did everything correctly and successfully migrated the script there are no launchpoint data? It's because out of the box, it doesn't automatically determine the two are related when you do the validation on a migration collection so it doesn't recommend adding the launch points. Thankfully, it's really easy to fix. In the Migration Collections application from the Select Action menu choose "Define Related... [More]

You may experience a scenario where some of your item records are available in different statuses in Maximo.
