Login to Maximo as that user. Set a Default Insert Site. Create a new Work Order. Save. Take note of... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Show All Labor Actuals on the View Costs Dialog in Work Orders
Is there a way to allow the View Costs screen in Work Order Tracking to show all Labor Actuals? Maximo Users have asked this question and it is likely being asked because it is perceived as a bug or some kind of design oversight. However, the likely reason that some Labor Actuals may not appear in the Work Order Tracking | View Costs dialog is because the Labor has not been approved yet, and this is due to specific configuration options. There are configuration options for Labor in the Organizations application which determine whether or... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Assignment Manager Updates to Scheduled Start and Finish Dates May Update Work Orders
Maximo Users have asked if there is a logic or calculation of the Scheduled Start Dates and Scheduled Finish Dates between Assignment Manager and Work Order Tracking. It is observed in some scenarios that the updates to a Work Order's Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish dates do not have cascading updates to the Assignment Manager application, or vice-versa. The commonly expected result is that an update to both of these values in the Assignment Manager will update the Work Order with these same values simultaneously from the assignment.... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Populate the Vendor Field on Job Plan
Here's a good question from a Maximo User... "Is there a way for the Vendor field to populate on the Planned Material rows of a Job Plan?" The answer is yes, but the item that is selected for the planned material row must be Direct Issue... In the Job Plans application, Planned Materials can be added on the Job Plan tab, Materials sub-tab. The default behavior when the New Row button is clicked is to display the Vendor field as read-only. If an Item is selected in the Item field for use on the Job Plan, the Vendor field will... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Issues With Bill To/Ship To Addresses
Is there a way to verify or edit the Bill To/Ship To Lookup Entries? The most common cause of unexpected, incorrect, or missing values in the "Bill To/Ship To" look-up is that there is an incorrect or missing configuration of the values at the Organization level. These records and values are configured in the Organizations application. Another issue that can be caused by incorrect or missing Bill To/Ship To addresses is that the Reorder Cron Task or manual Reorder will not create PRs or POs! The most common reason for the... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Notes on Deleting a Storeroom
A frequent question by Maximo administrators is whether it is possible to delete a Storeroom. A Storeroom may not be needed anymore, or has physically changed or merged into another existing Storeroom. The short answer to this question is that a Storeroom can only be deleted if there has never been items or tools added to it. This also means that no inventory transactions have been conducted for this storeroom. If your situation meets that criteria, you can delete a storeroom record using the Delete Storeroom entry on the Select Action menu... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Use a Salvage Storeroom To Retire Rotating Assets
The simplest method to manage Assets that will no longer be used is to use the Asset Move/Modify function to simply move an Asset to a Location of Type 'SALVAGE'. However, some client clients have indicated that their current, or legacy business practices dictate that a Storeroom be used to physically store, and account for the "retired" assets - both rotating and non-rotating. In Maximo versions prior to 7.5, the Issues and Transfers application would be used to just move it to another Storeroom. Beginning with Maximo 7.5,... [More]

From the Maximo Support Desk - Cannot Add a Continuous Type Meter to a Job Plan
Maximo administrators and users have observed that it not possible to apply a Continuous type Meter to a Job Plan for Condition Monitoring. The Meter field on a Job Plan task is for Condition Monitoring functionality, and this only works with Gauge and Characteristic meter types. This is working as designed . Job Plans will only allow meters that can be used with the Condition Monitoring functionality, so only Gauge and Characteristic type Meters can be used. Specifically, a Job Plan Task will allow a meter value. The default lookup, viewed on... [More]
