Want latest approved PO revision to display when doing a ‘quickfind’ search in Receiving application?
In Maximo when using the ‘Find’ field in the toolbar ,if there are multiple records that can be returned, the required record may not be displayed on the screen. This is also true when searching for a PO that has revisions in Receiving application. Maximo will search only for the key that was entered and returns the first value it finds. This is standard functionality. Note: If there are multiple records that can be returned from a ‘Find’ search, if the user selects the list tab after the search ,... [More]

Wanna Have More Control Over Attribute Duplication on Your Maximo Business Objects (MBOs)?
By Christa Barker and Alfredo Cortes The Database Configuration Application has been enhanced in Maximo 7.5.0.3 with a new object definition menu called ‘Exclude Attribute Data’. Here is where you can specify the user-defined attributes that you do not want included in your new object during the duplication process. Additionally you have the ability to control what records are excluded by using a condition created with our SQL Builder. Records are skipped when the condition specified evaluates to true. See the ‘Exclude Attribute Data’... [More]

VMMSYNC workings and how to look at debug logs.
QUICK OVERVIEW ......... If you know how it works and just want to look at logging, look below for 'Basic Debugging' VMMSYNC is a crontask provided within Maximo products. As with all crontasks it can be set to run at regular intervals. The crontask makes contact with a component of WebSphere called VMM (Virtual Member Manager) via API calls. Viewing data from an IOT device in Maximo
Previously I used a Raspberry PI to enter data into Maximo, Logging data in Maximo with a Raspberry PI using Node-Red. However sometimes we do not care about the history of data but only want to view a current value, for example the temperature, humidity and the barometric pressure in a room. This blog will show you how to view data from a JSON Resource. An IOT device such as a Raspberry Pi or Beagle Bone Black can be used as a primitive REST server, in this case the server returns a basic JSON... [More]

Values from a Select Value list item are breaking. Now what ?
When you see the values from the lookups breaking in multiple lines even if the lookup column length has enough space or room for the full value, one way to get rid of this scenario is to prevent Maximo to use a specific predefined model for displaying the data this way. You can simply disable the usefieldsizegroup property in the XML definition file and configure Maximo not to wrap the text to be displayed. Please do the following : 1. Configure Maximo not to wrap the text to be displayed. (You can set the webclient.wraplength property... [More]

Using WebSphere 8.5.5 Migration Tool with Maximo 7.5 (part 3): Using the Migration tools
Just a quick plug before we head off into the land of screen shots. I attended a demo that showed off new user interface features coming in the next version of Maximo. Of great interest was the new interface, or skin. It's much cleaner than before, with larger type and just the right amount of white space. They've also hidden some elements that don't need always to be seen. (If you're worried about the new look causing problems for users used to the old look and feel, don't worry - everything is turned off when you upgrade... [More]

Using WebSphere 8.5.5 Migration Tool with Maximo 7.5 (part 2): Using the Migration tools
Continuing from my last blog posting , the next step is to migrate your profiles. Today's entry is pretty much going to be a step-by-step how to migrate the existing Deployment Manager profile, using out-of-the-box (OOB) Maximo 7.5. Your own environment is more complex than out-of-the-box Maximo, so this will be easy. Let's start! 1. First, shut down IBM HTTP and IBM WAS 7.0 services, and change their startup Type to manual. Then, restart the server. Even though you'll be given a chance to back up your profiles in the Migration... [More]

Using WebSphere 8.5.5 Migration Tool with Maximo 7.5 (part 1)
Continuing from my last blog post , I'm assuming you have installed WebSphere 8.5.5. I'm going to do a simple migration: out-of-the-box Maximo 7.5.0.5 from WebSphere 7.0.0.29 to WebSphere 8.5.5.0. Prerequisites for using Migration Tool: 1. WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 8.5.5.0 2. A Maximo Asset Management instance currently running on WAS 7.0 2a. MAM Fix Pack 7.5.0.5 or later installed Configuration Migration Tool - what is it? It is one of several WebSphere wizards that use a graphical interface that generate and... [More]
