I do not know if you have already noticed that in the main screen of Asset there exists a flag titled "Maintain Hierarchy?" Well, this flag is evil .... When you check it, the asset gets "stuck" I mean, you can not move or swap or delete this asset.... And this flag becomes uneditable! And as there are no limits to the worst, you can not uncheck it through the application ... never If you try to move or swap this asset you will get the following error message: BMXAA0074E - Asset XXX in site AAA... When is the opportune time to perform maintenance?
In some cases, when the
asset is already out of service or down for repairs. When the asset is already down,
you may have the opportunity to perform due maintenance, soon to be due
maintenance or deferred work. Operational inefficiencies
often occur when an asset just recently returned to service, must be taken back
out of service for more maintenance. Maximo for Transportation’s
Maintenance Alert feature helps to identify these opportunities to perform as
much work as possible while you have the asset down. This feature can... [More]

When editing the description from a record the user is unable to immediately search by description and find this record
When searching for an item by description, click on the item to edit it, change the description by adding some text at the end and save. Go back to the list of items you searched for and the edited item will be in italics. Hit refresh and the item disappears. It will not let you search by description for that item. You can search for it by number and it will be found. Eventually, if you exit the application and go back in, you can search for it by description again, but not immediately. What's In A Name? Maximo Nuclear!
What's in a Name? This simple question resonates with English speakers as part of a famous dialog in William Shakespeare's well-known play, Romeo and Juliette. This question, immortalized by The Bard in the sixteenth century, remains powerful to the present day. In its simplicity, the question suggests the distinction between what we label something, and what it actually is. The question also serves as a way to introduce an important development in the way Maximo Nuclear is bringing value to customers outside the realm of commercial nuclear... [More]

What is the Logic/Algorithm Maximo uses to determine the Lead of a Work Group
When work Work Groups was added to Work Order Tracking they incorporated the same logic in finding the lead as is used in work flow assignments. What is the logic behind PONUM autonumber for both Site and Organization levels?
The autonumber PONUM exists at both the system level and organization level in Maximo system. Do you believe there is some explanation of why it exists at both? The Autonumbering is controlled by the Autonumber Setup within the Organizations application. Autonumbering can be setup at system, org, and/or site levels in any combination desired. A PO is a SITE Level record and when you create a new PO, Maximo takes in consideration the User Default Insert Site to fill the PO SiteID and OrgID. This way if a PO Header is specified in the ORG1... [More]

What is the difference in using LIFO/FIFO versus AVG (=Average) Cost in Maximo 7.5.x?
I have been in Maximo Support for many years and often the question comes up what does LIFO/FIFO do? You can define your costs on an item by item basis by changing the cost type in Inventory on that item or a default for your site in the Organization application->Select Action->Inventory Options->Inventory Costs. In here, you can define what accounting method you want to track so that your costs reflect the standard for that item. When you do that, the Inventory application displays a different table. Before LIFO/FIFO was incorporated... [More]

What is Maximo ACMs CM Items(CM) application about?
My name is Edgar Mengelberg and I have been working with the Maximo and TPAE product suite in various Support roles for over 15 years. Maximo Asset Configuration Manager (ACM) was originally developed to be used in the Aviation industry. This was because the aviation industry deals with complex components that have many sub parts and strict regulations. This leads to maintenance processes that need to be carefully planned and executed. While Maximo Base Services or TPAE can handle these tasks, ACM has specific functionalities that make... [More]

When directly putting Maximo Integration Framework JMS messages into an inbound queue, the message header format must contain the custom properties described below to ensure that Maximo can processes these messages.
