Just a quick plug before we head off into the land of screen shots.
I attended a demo that showed off new user interface features coming in the next version of Maximo. Of great interest was the new interface, or skin. It's much cleaner than before, with larger type and just the right amount of white space. They've also hidden some elements that don't need always to be seen. (If you're worried about the new look causing problems for users used to the old look and feel, don't worry - everything is turned off when you... [More]
Continuing from my last blog posting , the next step is to migrate your profiles.
Today's entry is pretty much going to be a step-by-step how to migrate the existing Deployment Manager profile, using out-of-the-box (OOB) Maximo 7.5. Your own environment is more complex than out-of-the-box Maximo, so this will be easy. Let's start!
1. First, shut down IBM HTTP and IBM WAS 7.0 services, and change their startup Type to manual. Then, restart the server.
Even though you'll be given a... [More]
On May 30, 2014 IBM Software released the Interim Fix 009 (IF009) for Maximo Asset Management 22.214.171.124.
Information for Interim Fix 009 (IF009) can be found here: http://bit.ly/1kMkWWL
See the readme file for more information.
Remember to review considerations and prerequisites before applying this interim fix.
IBM Support strongly recommends keeping Maximo Asset Management implementations up to date with the latest available maintenance.
Continuing from my last blog post , I'm assuming you have installed WebSphere 8.5.5. I'm going to do a simple migration: out-of-the-box Maximo 126.96.36.199 from WebSphere 188.8.131.52 to WebSphere 184.108.40.206.
Prerequisites for using Migration Tool:
1. WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 220.127.116.11
2. A Maximo Asset Management instance currently running on WAS 7.0
2a. MAM Fix Pack 18.104.22.168 or later installed
Configuration Migration Tool - what is it? It is one of several WebSphere wizards that use a graphical... [More]

Would you like to know the extensibility capabilities of Maximo Anywhere and how you can turbocharge your Maximo Anywhere solution so that it includes the configurations and customizations required for your specific environment?
In this blog post, " How can you turbocharge your Maximo Anywhere application?" , I introduce the Maximo Anywhere platform, and explain its configuration and customization capabilities and how... [More]
Now that you've installed WebSphere 8.5.5, how do you get Maximo 22.214.171.124 to run on it?
There are two ways to do it.
The hard way is to set up everything manually. This requires that you know what needs to be set up. More importantly, it requires that you need to know where to go to find out what needs to be set up.
While WebSphere 8.5.5 is a big leap forward for WebSphere, a lot of that's under the hood. You don't see it. To the Maximo administrator, the interface will look very familiar. You will be... [More]
Last year, we met with a number of customers across different industries to discuss your needs for the readme file that accompanies the Maximo Asset Management 7.5 fix packs.
You told us that you'd like to be able to retrieve information more easily, that you'd like more information on behavior changes, you'd also like security items highlighted, and generally that you'd like us to reduce the time that you need to spend testing a fix pack before you roll it into a production environment.
We've taken your... [More]
The record set totals 143. Ranging from jazz, country and rock and roll, the 143 records commander a prime, comfortable spot in our attic.
Your Maximo record set may or may not have the same historical grooves. However, understanding how a Maximo application record set can be applied in Maximo Ad Hoc reporting is critical.
Maximo Ad Hoc reporting enables your Power users to create their own reports - for their unique business needs. One of the key components of... [More]
Security is more important than ever, and securing applications is a priority to every company. Many clients ask for documentation on configuring Maximo for LDAP authentication. You end up having to review many different articles to address a single topic, so I've decided to lay out a basic LDAP configuration using WebSphere 7 and Maximo 126.96.36.199. This will walk through connecting WebSphere to your domain right down to the synchronization process and hopefully give a more clear understanding of the configuration process. For the purpose of... When using VMMSYNC to synchronize user and person records, out of the box you are limited to the attributes that exist as part of the PersonAccount Entity in WebSphere and what exists in the User and Group mappings on the Crontask. This doesn't always fulfill the requirements of the end user who needs to bring more information in from other attributes that exist on a user record in the Active Directory domain. In this post I will outline the process of adding a field to Maximo and then synchronizing data from the directory server into... [More]

It is possible to run escalation to rollover annual YTD for Inventory items.
Below is a screen shots to test that the escalation works for just one item. Once it works correctly, Maximo administrator can set the condition to 1=1 to update all the item records
Screen shots of the actions in the action group:
NOTE: Run As User in the Escalation Cron should be MAXADMIN user with access to all the sites
If you already have your Maximo Anywhere 7.5, then you maybe have experienced the fact you need to set a specific host or a port in the application and you cannot change worklight settings in a device without physical menu button.
Let's get this done then:
1. Open the deploy.properties file under MaximoAywhere/platform/mobile/config path
2. Change the host, port or whatever information you need to be generated together with the apk to be installed in your device
3. Save the file and then open a command screen... [More]
