Continuing from Installing Maximo 7.6: A first look, part 3
This will be a long post, because, as with the previous ones, it will consist mainly of screen shots.
When you complete WebSphere configuration and deployment, when it brings you back to the Configuration screen, it will look different than before (the Prepare WebSphere Application Server for configuration option is gone).
Next, we click on Configure a New Deployment. It brings up this screen.

If you have purchased or are considering purchasing one of the IBM Anywhere Mobile Platform products, you may be wondering how the apps that are delivered with the products can be configured to suit the needs of your mobile workers.
The ability to test and configure the mobile apps is one of the many beneficial features of IBM Maximo Anywhere and IBM TRIRIGA Anywhere. You can install an integrated development environment (IDE) that includes IBM Worklight Studio and the Android or iOS development tools.

When you click the Finish button the previous screen, the Deployment configuration tool will launch.
This initial part of the configuration that was done through the Middleware Installer (MWI) tool in Maximo 7.5. Here, you will prepare the WebSphere instance for use with Maximo. That includes setting up application servers, creating profiles, configuring IBM HTTP Server, setting the administrative security mode. Since this is a direct... [More]

I've been working with the new Maximo 7.6 installer for a while now. Compared to the installer used with Maximo 7.1 and 7.5, it is a big improvement.
First, you have many fewer screens to go through. At most, you'll see 11 screens, instead of more than 25. Each screen provides field validation for your entries.
Second, before you install anything, you can review, validate and modify all of the entries, rather than waiting until everything has been entered and pressing that next button.
Third, there is additional... [More]
This is a cross post from Service Management 360 site.
Did you know you can configure Maximo Anywhere apps to add additional views and show related objects of the objects already used by the app?
For instance, in this blog post , I describe the process for adding the communications log object, which is related to the work order, to the Maximo Anywhere Work Execution app. This will include:
A view to show the list of communication logs that are related to the work order.
A view to show the... [More]
Maximo® for Service Providers 7.5.3 introduced the feature to automate the billing of price schedules, which means no need of human interaction to create bill batches and copy transactions. With this function you can choose the frequency of billing generation and group these b ill batches by order number, customer cost center, customer PO, or reporting user, expanding the possible ways to organize customer billings.
Take a look at these two new topics to learn how to use this function:
Importing data is supported by standard Maximo Integration Framework as well as different tools from the business partner landscape.
In a past PoC I was forced to import massive data with bad quality, agile data structures (implies changing data structures from day to day) and last but not least pay regard on what was already imported into Maximo. Let me share my experience on how we did it.
Most of the mentioned tools using an approach of a 1:1 import of data, means you have to take care of data quality before you start import.... [More]
Sometimes you are working with Maximo and then you need to troubleshoot or have a better look at some specific event or process that is failing or not working as expected. Your next step would be to check for what kind of failing event that is, and then try to find its associated classname in order to start your investigation about what the issue could be related to.
This applies to when you are testing a customization, or monitoring Maximo behavior even when the core classes are in place. But the current standard... [More]
It's been a bit since my last entry in this series, so I thought I'd take some time this morning to finish off this tutorial on configuring a basic horizontal cluster. If you haven't read my previous posts, you can jump over to Part 1: WebSphere Configuration and Part 2: JMS Configuration .
In this final portion of the three part series, we will go over the following topics.
Creating the Virtual Host
Assigning Names to JVM's
Building and Deploying ear files
Today I am going to provide a workaround to avoid a common error that I usually face when testing Maximo Upgrade scenarios on DB2 databases. If you missed my previous "Maximo Upgrade Tips" entries, check them through this link .
One of the common errors that can happen during an upgrade of Maximo Base Services from versions 7.1.x to 7.5.x on DB2 databases is related with the application heap size configuration parameter of the database - applheapsz , usually set by default as 1024 or 2048 depending of what where... [More]
Hello Everyone, For those who are using Spatial and are also using Oracle, this is a very important update for you!
An Oracle Critical Patch Update(CPU) was recently released on October 14th, 2014. If this is installed on your Oracle Database, connections to Oracle DB can crash ArcGIS.
This issue only affects Oracle users. All versions of ArcGIS are impacted by this CPU.
· If you have not yet installed the patch listed above, do not install it , per Esri's recommendation.
· If you have installed the patch... [More]
Recently I encountered a Maximo user who requested for a report parameter lookup to be added to a BIRT Report request page. Not just any parameter, but an unbound Location(s) parameter lookup that was to only show and display records subject to the Location being specified on the request page. Upon initial setup of the Table Domain and simple lookups.xml modification, the goal was partially reached but the lookup was returning ALL locations and not those subject to the Table Domain.
Within our Report Development Guide(s) (... [More]
I've been working an issue with a colleague recently regarding Change Polling with the VMMSYNC cron task. When using Tivoli Directory Server there is a key step that is missing in current documentation that isn't needed with Active Directory, missing this step will prevent Change Polling from working. Before I go into the the missing piece regarding Tivoli Directory Server, I will explain a bit more what Change Polling does.
In Maximo 22.214.171.124 change polling functionality was implemented. When enabled change polling allows the... [More]
