For Maximo 7.6 customers who use the MIF's Message Tracking feature, there is a new archiving utility for Message Tracking data. You can archive the message tracking data and/or the related XML messages. See the details on this utility in the MIF section of the Maximo WIKI:
It's been a bit since my last entry in this series, so I thought I'd take some time this morning to finish off this tutorial on configuring a basic horizontal cluster. If you haven't read my previous posts, you can jump over to Part 1: WebSphere Configuration and Part 2: JMS Configuration .
In this final portion of the three part series, we will go over the following topics.
Creating the Virtual Host
Assigning Names to JVM's
Building and Deploying ear files
Since the 7.1 release when Maximo began integrating with Cognos, I've resolved several PMRs. Many of these were similar issues, but one of the primary concerns was locating relevant error messages and which log files to locate those errors in.
For 'Part 1' of this blog, I will cover the common log files that should be reviewed when investigating issues with the Maximo/Cognos integration and submitting PMRs to Support.
Cognos Log File Locations :
The Cognos log files that will need to be checked when... [More]
Previously I had posted a blog on creating a horizontal cluster across multiple nodes in WebSphere 8.5.5. If you haven't read that posting, please head on over Clustering with Maximo and WebSphere 8.5.5 - Part 1 - Configuration and take a look. Today we will be continuing forward with JMS configuration. I was going to do this series in 2 parts, but I will separate this out in 3 parts due to the length of the topic.
In the original blog posting we configured the following.
I didn’t see any faces on my toast this morning. But the tall oak outside my kitchen window gave me a very inquisitive look as I left the house. Really? Yes. Seeing is believing!
In the last few BiLogs, we’ve been talking about the metadata used in the Maximo-Cognos Report Integration. These discussions have included -
1. Defining the meta data, as a pre-joined, hierarchal collections of database object here
2. Capitalizing on... [More]
Some rules are hard to follow. Not eating dessert before dinner. Always walking inside of the crosswalk. Not bringing my favorite Diet Raspberry Ice Tea to a movie theatre.
Business rules in Maximo specify product functionality. In the Maximo Cognos report integration, there are some key business rules to be aware of for the metadata publishing process we’ve been reviewing the last few weeks. As noted in the last entry, you can publish Report Object Structures... [More]
We've added a new widget to Maximo and SmartCloud Control Desk 7.5 to support Rich Text within the User Interface.
Existing customers upgrading to Maximo 7.5 should be aware of certain considerations to support the new Rich Text widget. New customers looking to integrate data with external systems should also be aware of how this Rich Text is handled at the integration layer. Please take a look at this presentation
A new feature added to Maximo 7.5 allows application users to export data directly from the application they work in and view/manage that data (.csv) in MS Excel. They also have the ability to make changes to the data in the spreadsheet and then import those changes back into Maximo. See the enablement document available at the link below for more information.
MEA (Maximo Enterprise Adaptor) or MIF (Maximo Integration Framework) export files not generated, no errors, why?
Everything was working before, why not generated anymore, and there is no error. End up it was the messages which got stuck in the queue. Here are the steps to delete the stuck messages from the queue.
From the Maximo’s Go To menu, select Integration\External Systems
Select the external system to which data is to be sent (EXTSYS1)
Select action Add/Modify Queues
Where? Where did I leave my keys ? Where is my to do list ? But most importantly…where are the cupcakes?
Where is a frequently used term in reporting – as the Maximo ‘Where’ clause is the key to launching any type of report from Maximo.
You can access Cognos Report Studio reports from within Maximo in a number of different ways as detailed in this prior Bilog entry . These Cognos reports can be executed using the Application query, also... [More]

Transaction processing associated with Maximo integration scenarios involving a high number of external systems, might not necessarily be the optimum when working with a SINGLE continuous queue. Application server’s queue configuration values will be driven by the largest common denominator that addresses the transactional needs of ALL external systems. Are you aware that is possible to specify to each external system in your integration scenario a dedicated continuous queue? By configuring Maximo’s integration framework continuous queue... [More]
When importing linear asset features using the MIF, the following error may be encountered: "BMXAA6177E - Reference Point and End Measure must be between the linear asset's Start Measure 0.00 and End Measure 681,700.00." While this error is sometimes appropriate, the error should not be seen when the sum of the start and end measures and the respective start and end offsets on an asset feature are within defined Start and End measures of the linear asset. In addition to insuring that the latest cumulative hot fix has been applied,... [More]
Do you prefer to not to include custom Java code in your integration implementation? Don’t have available personnel with the appropriate Java skills? There are capabilities in the integration framework to implement processing functionality by using integration processing rules and control where Java code is not needed. Processing rules can be configured on any Publish Channel or Enterprise Service in order to filter transactions or set field values. Integration Controls can be used as part of a processing rule to allow for configurability of... [More]
This article aims at demonstrating the required steps to delete
non-processed messages from a queue of IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.5, IBM
WebSphere 220.127.116.11 and Oracle Weblogic 10.3.3.0
You can use Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) for integrating an external
system to the Maximo Asset Management 7.5 system. With MIF you can exchange
data through importing and exporting operations. XML and .dat files are
examples of ways to do the operations. This article comprises the steps
required for deleting... [More]
