In my experience as a software engineer, the value of an IBM Redbook in software design, implementation and maintenance can never be overemphasized. I started using Redbooks as reference material in my development projects back in the 90s. Learning and applying techniques and best practices always helped me deliver quality software to my customers on time. Back then I couldn't have imagined I would be part of a Redbook authors team! Time has moved on and I am really happy to share with all of you the link to the updated Migration Manager Redbook. A draft version has been published here and I welcome your reviews and comments.
Migration Manager is a key capability in the Maximo and SmartCloud Control Desk product portfolio. Migration Manager enables the packaging and promotion of key product configurations from development to production environments in a consistent and repeatable manner. Some of you are no doubt practitioners and implementers who are already experienced with Migration Manager functionality. Others might be just starting to learn to use it. Yet others might be evaluating its usage in a product implementation. I hope the information presented and discussed in the updated Redbook will increase your knowledge and comfort with the functionality and help you plan your product implementations.
Highlights of the updated Migration Manager Redbook:
- New chapters discussing significant new functionality introduced in the Tivoli process automation engine 7.5 release
- New chapters covering common migration scenarios such as Integration Framework migration
- Updated strategy chapter discussing migration planning and implementation approaches
- Updated scenario chapters comparing collections and snapshot approaches
- Updated Common Topics and Troubleshooting chapters
In this short video I discuss and summarize these additions and changes to the book. The book has not completed the Redbook editorial process yet. Grammatical inconsistencies and errors will be corrected before the final publication.
