A cluster groups similar functions on two or more Java virtual machines (JVMs) to process the function, such as scheduled cron tasks. Deploying Maximo in a clustered configuration can improve performance and reliability.
For example, you can configure resource-intensive operations, such as reports, to run in separate clusters. You can also configure processes that do not require user interaction, such as cron tasks, to run on separate clusters.
When you deploy Maximo in a clustered configuration, you complete several tasks within the Maximo system. Then, you complete the configuration on your application server.
In the 220.127.116.11 release, the information center provides detailed step-by-step instructions for deploying a clustered configuration. First, you prepare to create the clusters. Then, you can create and deploy clusters in a WebSphere Application Server environment or in a WebLogic Server environment.
