New features available in Maximo Asset Configuration Manager 7.5.1

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

New features available in Maximo Asset Configuration Manager 7.5.1

Body

Maximo Asset Configuration Manager (ACM) is a Add On solution to the core Maximo Asset Management solution.  ACM is designed to support  complex components that have many sub-parts and require carefully planned and executed maintenance.
Currently, ACM is used in the aerospace, defense and rail sectors where safety and regulatory compliance is of primary importance, particularly in the area of tracking  the status of historical changes to the asset configuration and its components.
Maximo Asset Configuration Manager is supported by Maximo 7.5.0.5 or later.  Several new features and improvements were implemented in this new release.

  • Flight Log Book

This feature  consists of two new applications that integrate  the logic between the existing Model (CM), Assets (CM) and Work Orders (CM) applications.
A flight log book allows the flight and ground crew to enter data related to an aircraft during its life cycle. With this new solution, it is possible to cover  operations, maintenance and logistics, aviation-associated equipment, mission related equipment, report deficiencies, document warranty actions and equipment modifications in an automated way.

  • Progressive Inspection Program

This new feature supports a type of aircraft maintenance program in which consists of a  cycle of fixed periods between each maintenance event regardless  of when the entire maintenance is started or completed.
With this new capability, it is possible for inspections to be started earlier if that is convenient or cost effective whilst increasing the asset availability.
The main benefits provided with this new capability are  spreading out inspections over the entire PIP cycle, minimizing asset down time, increasing asset availability, complying with regulatory requirements, allowing inspections to be started earlier if that is convenient or cost effective, all while maintaining the quality of the inspection program.

For example, a 300 hour cycle that consists of 6 equalized checklist elements  constitute a complete progressive inspection program (PIP) cycle. The inspection checklists must be accomplished consecutively at 50 hour intervals. The 50 flight hour interval will be computed from the beginning of the PIP cycle (300 Hour), not from the completion of the last inspection.

  • MSG-3 support

MSG-3 is a standard requirement specific to aviation sector maintenance for A4A organization.
The new capabilities in Maximo ACM v7.5.1 support the MSG-3 requirements for the definition and identification of a range of items that are related to this standard
It allows clients to efficiently define scheduled maintenance programs using an industry standard approach.

  • Alignment with Maximo for Transportation

This alignment is a benefit for Maximo clients that use both the Transportation and ACM products.
Some applications were integrated, allowing assets from ACM to be manipulated through Transportation applications. Also, a set of best practices about how to proceed when both products are in the same environment were provided in document format.
Enabling this integration allows customers to build complex assets through ACM and apply exclusive Transportation features.

  • Alignment with Maximo Asset Management Scheduler

Maximo Asset Management Scheduler allows for the creation of a reliable work schedule and tools to seamlessly dispatch assignments to field technicians. It is possible to view all work orders and forecasted activities in a Gantt chart so that they can be grouped logically and scheduled optimally. Viewing critical factors that can impact a schedule is vitally important to the planner.
A limitation in ACM prevented the full use of all the Maximo Scheduler features. From this release, it is possible to utilize all Maximo Scheduler features including the ability to visualize a preventive maintenance from ACM in Maximo Scheduler Gantt chart and take advantage of the Scheduler resources.
