Maximo Asset Management Scheduler 7.5.1 was just recently released and I wanted to talk a little bit about the new Maximo Everyplace template applications we created to be included with the release. These applications come out of the box with the Scheduler product but require you to also own Maximo Everyplace for these applications to function. There are a number of features built into these mobile applications that require Scheduler functionality to work properly.
These mobile Everyplace applications focus on executing work orders. One has been designed to run best on tablet sized devices such as iPads and Android tablets and the others are designed for smaller phone size screens such as iPhones and Blackberries and Android phones.
Scheduler has introduced some really nice features that we have included in these Everyplace applications. Most notably, there is full featured map support for the field workforce to visualize their daily route of work orders, get turn by turn directions, see other labor and crews nearby on the map as well as unassigned work nearby. As the day progresses the map continually stays up to date with the remaining work for the day. Google and Bing maps are both supported (There is a service fee from either). Maximo Spatial is also supported. The mapping knows where work orders and labor is based on the new Service Address functionality.
Technicians can see a summarized view of all of their required materials and tools for the day so they can get their trucks loaded quickly and accurately. A single tap can start a work order, create labor and tool transactions for crews and labor, set the status to in progress, then upon completion, just confirm the details and click OK to finalize the work order and complete the process. Users can also enter failure reports, meter readings, and other ‘actuals’.
The screens have been hand tailored to fit the screen sizes of tablets and smartphones, but most importantly, they have been crafted to fit very specific work execution use cases, streamlined for simple usage and intended to support field work execution and also to work seamlessly with the new Maximo Scheduler 7.5.1 release.
To see these Everyplace template apps for yourself, you can go to our ‘sandbox’ environment and play around with them. The address is:
If you want to see work orders on the map, make sure you define some service addresses on the work orders. This can be done on the Map tab of Work Order Tracking just right click on the map.
You can use your iPad, iPhone, Android device or any other Everyplace approved device.
If you plan on running these apps on your laptop or desktop computer, before you log in, make sure you click the ‘Mobile Login’ link so you will get the full Everyplace experience.
I’m really excited about these applications and I think that they will offer huge value to the field workforce.
