mxe.directprint.javaconsole.debug system property is set to FALSE and is not editable in UI

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

mxe.directprint.javaconsole.debug system property is set to FALSE and is not editable in UI

Body

When a user opens an application and tries to print directly from Maximo® toolbar, it is then that they invoke what is formerly known as Direct Print. In the new Maximo® v7.6, this feature is known as toolbar print (TP).  If this feature does not function as expected, to help troubleshoot it mxe.directprint.javaconsole.debug system property is available in the System Properties application.

When you use a web browser that supports Java applets, you can access extra debug information. In order to accomplish this task, an update is required to this setting from FALSE ("= 0"), which is the default, to TRUE "("=1") in the user interface(UI). However, to change this setting from the UI is not always available and users may need to perform this update from their database.

If you run into this type of situation, please go ahead and run the following SQL:

If you observe in the System Properties application, the mxe.directprint.javaconsole.debug Global Value is set to "0":

After running the previously mentioned update statement in the database, and running LiveRefresh to finalize the updated value, you can see the Global and the Current values update to "1":

This debugs only the applet; more information is written to the Java console.
