Migrating Classifications with Attributes and Measure Units

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

Migrating Classifications with Attributes and Measure Units

Body

The current Migration Group, CLASSIFICATIONDATA, does not migrate the Attributes and Measure Units.
This can result in missing descriptions on Attributes and Measure Units which can be confusing for the end user.

The solution is to add two new Migration Objects for these two objects so that they can be migrated and then to create
a new Migration Group containing the exisitng DMCLASSIFICATION Migration Object and the two new created
Migration Objects for Attributes and Measure Units.

Creating the two new Migration Objects

Go to the System Configuration > Migration > Object Structures Application and create a new record,
call the Object Structure DMASSETATTR. Add ASSETATTRIBUTE as a Source Object and then L_ASSETATTRIBUTE
as a child to this Source Object. Save your Object Structure.

Insert a new record and call the new Object Structure DMMEASURE. Add MEASUREUNIT as a Source Object.
Save your Object Structure.

Creating the new Migration Group

Go to the System Configuration > Migration > Migration Groups Application and create a new record,
call the Migration Group CLASSIFICATIONCOMP. Add the existing DMCLASSIFICATION Migration Object
and the two new Objects DMASSETATT and DMMEASURE. Save your Migration Group.

Using the new Migration Group

You can now use the new Migration Group as any other Migration Group in the Migration Manager.
