Now that you've installed WebSphere 8.5.5, how do you get Maximo 184.108.40.206 to run on it?
There are two ways to do it.
The hard way is to set up everything manually. This requires that you know what needs to be set up. More importantly, it requires that you need to know where to go to find out what needs to be set up.
While WebSphere 8.5.5 is a big leap forward for WebSphere, a lot of that's under the hood. You don't see it. To the Maximo administrator, the interface will look very familiar. You will be able to transfer most of your current knowledge to the new platform, just as you might have done going from WAS 6.1 to 7.0. For example, you can still use our Maximo 7 and WebSphere 7.0 installation documentation, adjusting for interface changes. You can also easily modify the installation documents you've created specific to your environment.
You'll notice some nice improvements. For example, the generic JVM argument line is now a good sized, resizable box. You will no longer have to select all and copy to a text editor to see the full argument:
I'm not going to blog a step-by-step on deploying Maximo manually to WebSphere 8.5.5 (unless you really want me to - let me know). Here are docs you'll need to follow to do it yourself:
