Abstract

Inventory Usage vs Issues and Transfer

After upgrading to Maximo 7.5 many clients have decided to keep on using Issues and Transfer application.   One of the reasons for using Issues and Transfer application instead of the new Inventory Usage application is due to training issues.  Users do not want to learn a whole new application and business owners do not want to spend money on training.

However, Inventory usage application is actually quite easy to use and it offers all the features available in Issues and Transfer application.

  • Simplified flow –

Issues and transfers applications are recorded from the same tab

  • Staging Transaction -

Allows user to stage the issues / transfer transactions. 

It will not write to the database until user changes the status to COMPLETE

  • Address errors and warnings when the user is ready -

The lines that had error, like negative balance will be marked with a red cross.

This feature is not available in Issues and Transfer application. 

Imagine if there are hundreds of lines created in Issues and Transfer application, it will take some time to spot the lines that cause the error.

I would recommend that you try out Inventory Usage application by clicking on the New icon on the toolbar, create a few lines and see what happens.
