IBM Maximo Anywhere: Switching between two instances of Worklight® Server

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

IBM Maximo Anywhere: Switching between two instances of Worklight® Server

Body

When connection settings is activated, mobile device users can switch between two
instances of Worklight® Server without having to rebuild and deploy the apps.

By default, connection settings is not activated, but it can be activated in the
build.properties file. Activating connection settings can produce unexpected
results in the work order list. When you switch to a new instance of Worklight
Server, and if the application data was not cleared, work orders from the previous
instance and the new instance of Worklight Server might appear in the work order
list. Do not activate this property in production environments.

When you activate connection settings, the updated app must be deployed as a
new app version. Users must download and install the new app version from the
server.

1. Open the build.properties file in the AnywhereWorkManager directory.
2. Locate the connection.settings.enabled property and set this property to true
if you want to activate connection settings. If you want to deactivate connection
settings, set this property to false.
3. After you activate or deactivate connection settings, build and deploy the
application.

This procedure applies to the Maximo Anywhere versions 7.5.0 and 7.5.1.

For Maximo Anywhere versions 7.5.2 and greater, connection settings can
be activated in the app-feature.properties file in the
maximoanywhere_home\Anywhere\MaximoAnywhere\apps\app_name directory.
