Abstract

How to deploy and ear file on Websphere 7.0

We are getting lots of new clients and deploying an ear file seems to be one of the areas new clients are usure of.  I've prepared the following to walk clients through the deployment stage step by step with screenshots to be able to effectively and efficiently deploy an ear file.

Login to the Websphere console, expand Applications, click Websphere enterprise applications and then click the Install button.

Click Browse and drill down to locate the maximo.ear file which is located at c:\ibm\smp\maximo\deployment\default and then click next.

You can click next on this screen accepting the default Fast Path.

You can click next accepting the defaults on this screen or you can choose to change the application name from it's default MAXIMO.

Now select all of the modules and under Clusters and servers highlight both the MXServer and the websphere1 and click apply and then next.

Select all of the modules and change the virtual host to maximo_host or the virtual host name that you are using and click next.

Now click Finish.

The application will install and once finished click "Save" directly to the master configuration.

Lastly, goto Enterprise Applications and verify the application now exist, now you can expand Servers and start the MXServer.

You have successfully deployed an ear file.
