BiLog: Postcards, DPA and Report Printing in Version 7503!Do you send postcards when you travel? Our family has a yearly competition to see who can send the best postcard, and I’m currently in the lead, with a postcard sent from here – the littlest post office in the United States. This postcard to the left is one of my favorites - sent back in June 1912, from the Rocky River in Cleveland, Ohio to one of my relatives in Buffalo, New York. Don’t wait to send those postcards whether you are traveling for vacation or for work – and also don’t wait to upgrade to Maximo 7503 with its incredible depth of features! One of the updated features I want to detail today is a property setting used in the Direct Print with Attachments (DPA) functionality. DPA enables your users to directly print the configured reports and its printable attachments to their default printer by clicking on its icon in the application toolbar. In 7503, the property setting, mxe. The two scenarios below detail the use of this property file with a single report and two attachments, and where its value is set to 60 seconds. Scenario 1: The two attachments are pdf files. The DPA process starts by executing and printing the report as a PDF file. After completion, the first PDF attachment will then begin its execution/print stage at the wait time of 60 seconds. Then, the second PDF attachment will begin its execution/print stage at 120 seconds. ![]() Scenario 2: The two attachments are non-pdf files, for example .jpg files. The DPA process starts by executing and printing the report as a PDF file. After completion, the first non-PDF attachment will then begin its execution/print stage at the wait time of 60 seconds. Then, after it has completed, the second non-PDF attachment will execution/print. Since the attachments are non-pdf files, this wait time setting does not apply to them. ![]() What to Consider: Based on this, if you have very large reports, and your report attachment packages could contain, large complex pdf files, if you set this value Low: All attachments may not print High: All attachments will print…but time of printing process may be long Therefore, carefully consider the best value for your unique business requirements.
