Work Orders & WMATL status.

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

Work Orders & WMATL status.

Body

WMATL is a status used on work orders to indicate the lack of availability of planned material. Users plans for material on the plans tab, material subtab, users add the quantity needed and storeroom the item will be sourced from. The status of the work order is then changed  to approved, at this time the code fires off and does a few checks. Based on the quantity planned for being more than the balance on hand maximo will change the work order status to WMATL and not to approved. If that is not current happening then there may be a setup issue. Refer to the document to confirm your setup.

Once the work order is in WMATL status the reorder process needs to be run. The process will automatically create the purchase order for the outstanding items planned for. Once the items on the PO are received, the status of the work order will automatically change from WMATL to Approved.

When planning and there being only a parent work order, the status of the work order will change as described above. If there is a task added to the work order, things change slightly. Below is an example provided to me by a co-worker that helps explain what to expect if the work order does, in fact, have a task.

Consider a Work Order with one Task 10, and two Materials, M1 (Task is blank) and M2 (Task = 10). Any of the following statuses is valid / possible:

Both M1 and M2 are available:
WO: APPR
Task: APPR

M1 is not available, M2 is available:
WO: WMATL
Task: APPR

M1 is available, M2 is not available:
WO: APPR
Task: WMATL

Neither M1 nor M2 is available:
WO: WMATL
Task: WMATL
