Thinking of upgrading Oracle to 11.2.0.4?

Thinking of upgrading Oracle to 11.2.0.4?

Body

Hello Oracle DBAs!

This is a heads up.  I have noticed that there are still many customers running Oracle 11.2.0.3 or earlier and may be planning to move to Oracle 11.2.0.4 in the near future.

Quite a few Maximo customers encountered an Oracle bug which impacts Maximo and the usage of text indexes.  The error can occur in various areas within Maximo but if you see an ORA-00604 it is likely this problem.

You will see an error similar to this error:

java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'SYNCRN'
ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:PL/SQL: Statement ignored

Since the patch is an Oracle software patch, you will need to download it from the Oracle site.

Refer to Oracle technote Doc ID 1586704.1 for resolution.  Log on to the Oracle Support web site to view the document and suggested Oracle solution which is to apply Oracle Patch 17501296 or recreate ctxsys.syncrn procedure as described in the document 1586704.1.

Hope this helps!
