No more Java applet in Maximo 7.6.0.6 feature pack

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

No more Java applet in Maximo 7.6.0.6 feature pack

Body

Howdy!  In Maximo 7.6.0.6 workflow designer no longer requires java applet to load.  i.e. I no longer need to install an appropriate Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and wait for the applet to load in workflow.  Less time waiting, more time working!

I can now use the mouse to draw lines to join the nodes together (without selecting an icon on the toolbar first)

  • right-click and drag to draw Positive lines from one node to another.
  • ctrl-right-click and drag to draw Negative lines from one node to another.

In the system properties application, the mxe.webclient.wfdesigner.usewfapplet property is set to false by default to free the workflow application from requiring java applets.  I doubt anyone wants to change this property to true and wait for the applet to load again.
