New SERVERSESSION table in Maximo Asset Management 7.6

Technical Blog Post

Abstract

New SERVERSESSION table in Maximo Asset Management 7.6

Body

Hey guys! This will be my first blog about Maximo Asset Management and just to give you a heads up, there will be no troubleshooting done here but this will be informational. Here is a question for you, are you constantly monitoring the MAXSESSION table to check UI sessions and server sessions? Then you have come to the right place for a new and useful information!

In Maximo 7.5, the MAXSESSION table is used to track connected user sessions and server sessions (Want to know more about user sessions and server sessions? See the following blog here). The information you gather in the MAXSESSION table can you help you to troubleshoot connectivity issues and etc. A technote is already published for everyone to have a better understanding of the MAXSESSION table.

But enough about the MAXSESSION table, we are here because I want to discuss the new SERVERSESSION table in Maximo Asset Management 7.6. Do not get me wrong, the MAXSESSION table still exists in Maximo 7.6 however the server sessions are now recorded and monitored in a different table which is the SERVERSESSION table. What you usually see in the Maximo 7.5 is that there is a ISSYSTEM column in the MAXSESSION table and that will be the indicator if it is a server session or not and in the case of Maximo 7.6, what you see in the SERVERSESSION table are server sessions (Pretty obvious, isn't it?).

So if you are ever wondering why you can not find any server sessions in your MAXSESSION table and thinking that there is a possible disconnection between your Maximo instance and your application server, then worry no more! Just do a select servername, active from serversession against your database and you will find the record/s that shows your server session/s.

Here is an example for you:
