Abstract

Explaining the Attempt Result values in Login Tracking

Body

Recently I have had a few clients inquire about the possible values for Login Tracking in Maximo and what they mean.

So here is a summary of the possible values.

For the Attempt Result in Login Tracking (Logintracking.AttemptResult),
here are the following possibilities and their meaning:

FAILED -- Failed login or electronic signature authentication attempt.
    LOGIN -- Successful user login.
    LOGOUT -- User logout.
SYSLOGOUT-- Session timed out by Maximo
RESTART -- Forced "logout" due to server shutdown.
SUCCESS -- Successful electronic signature  authentication.
TIMEOUT -- Session timed out by browser.

A new property mxe.usermonitor.InactiveSessionTimeLimit was added in version 7.5 with a default value of 120,

meaning 120 minutes.  When this time is reached for an inactive session, the maxsession record will be removed.

If Login Tracking is turned on then a "SYSLOGOUT" record will be recorded in the logintracking table.

You can see a history of Login Tracking results by going to the Users application and then clicking on

Select Action / Manage Sessions and then clicking on the Login Tracking tab.
