Creating Cognos package and report from Maximo objects

I would like to explain the following topics.

1. How to create Cognos packages from Maximo objects?
2. How to create Cognos reports using the published package?
3. How to export your Report Specification to xml formatted text file?

1. How to create Cognos packages from Maximo objects?

- Click Menu: "System Configuration" -> "Migration" -> "Object Structures"

- Enter keywords to find the object

- Select the object you want to publish as package

  You can see the details of the Maximo object.

- Click Action: "Publish as Cognos Package"

  Once the object is published a message will be displayed.

2. How to create Cognos reports using the published package?

We will open Cognos Connection (Web based Cognos tool) to check the published package and create a report.

- Click Menu: -> "Administration" -> "Report Administration"

- Click Action: -> "Cognos Reporting"

- In the main page of Cognos, find the folder where you saved all the published packages.

  The folder name is configured in the setting: Maximo -> "Integration" -> "End Points" -> Search "MXCOGNOS" -> "CONTENT_STORE_PACKAGE_LOCATION"

- Click the package name to enter to the package.

- Click Menu: "Launch" -> "Report Studio"

- Click "Create new"

- You can see the package name. If you want to change to another package, click "..." then select another package name

- Select report type (e.g. Crosstab)

- Click "OK"

- From the data hierarchy shown in 'Cognos - Insertable Objects Pane' (on the left top section), drag each data item then drop into the location in the table (Rows, Columns, Measures)

- Click Run icon in the menu to run the report

  The Cognos Viewer is opened and the report is displayed.

3. How to export your Report Specification to xml formatted text file?

- Go to "Tools" menu
- Click "Copy Report to Clipboard"
- You will see the report specification in XML format
You can use this specification to check your report or move one report to another environment.
