Excuse me….can you toss me a life line? These words gushed out of my mouth as we biked up the steep summit of Champlain Mountain in Acadia National Park in the blistering July heat. But with my family well in the distance…my words were soon lost amongst the magnificent trees and rocks surrounding me. However, your words and feedback on Maximo reporting are not lost. You have continually requested more information on functionality, best practices and customizations - - and we are continuing to build up that information for you. Recently,... [More]

Recently there are some requests for information on, how to increase the Drilldown limit in Maximo and I have created this document that explains how to do that. Drilldown Limit can be changed in two ways in Maximo, one is global level that effects for system and another way is by modifying the value (overriding the global value) for the tree control of the specific Drilldown. You can review the Drilldown Limit or https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/wikis/display/maximo/Drilldown+Limit+in+Maximo
It happens all too often, we lose track of time and we sometimes forget to do some important task. Commonly heard: "I forgot to get milk!" or "Did you remember to pick up the dry cleaning?" or "It's January 15th! I was supposed to zero out Maximo's inventory balances on January 1st!" The last one might not come up in your day to day lives, but for a Maximo inventory manager it is something that surely has happened (or will). The Zero Year to Date Quantities action is used to reset the counter of inventory... [More]
Here's a nice trick question for you: when does 4+4+1 = 8? In this case, the answer is the number of downloadable files you need to complete an installation of WebSphere 8 when you plan to deploy Maximo 22.214.171.124 using WebSphere 8 as it's underlying J2EE Application Server. If you are planning a deployment of Maximo 126.96.36.199 on top of WebSphere 8 you will discover that the installation engine has changed from previous versions of WebSphere and that the downloadable files required to properly construct an installation source have also changed in... “Are you sharing?” As the rush of adrenaline ripped thru me during last week’s client web conference ….I quickly opened different browsers, logged in as multiple users, and emailed files…in the quest to share my presentation and demo with everyone. But my sharing never did materialize. The jury is still out on the source of the technical difficulties (operator error?)....but the good news...is that the information from the Maximo-Cognos Integration session is now available on-line! The focus of the reporting session was on the... [More]

Introduction Sometimes during the execution of Escalations and Workflow processes in Maximo it is necessary for customers to implement additional processing or logic that may be specific to their business needs and/or processes. Maximo provides a simple yet powerful hook into the Maximo Business Object (MBO) framework in the form of an action custom class. Customers can develop and write their own customization's using the Java programming language and register them inside the Action application. The custom actions can then be invoked from... [More]
