MxLoader is a great tool and allows to perform massive updates in Maximo in few seconds. Updating attributes can be a little tricky so here is a little tutorial on how to do it.
First of all you have to download MxLoader and familiarize with it if you do not already know it. The User Guide has a nice introduction on how to use it.
When MxLoader is corretly working and connected to your Maximo server you can click on the 'New MxSheet' button and select the 'Assets - Asset Classification and Attributes'... [More]

When using the Maximo Integration Framework (IF) in a clustered environment the following should be considered.
For best performance with minimal impact to users, the Maximo Integration Framework (IF) can be configured to run on a single WebLogic application server instance of Maximo while users log in and work with a User Interface (UI) cluster of Maximo instances.
In the below example, you will need 4 WebLogic application servers.
One application server will serve as the... [More]
You are using GSKit provided with WebSphere Application Server to generate a certificate signing request or a self-signed certificate to be used with Maixmo, and when running the java version of the command "gsk7cmd" to generate a 4096 bit key, you receive an invalidkeyexception showing the error "illegal key size".
How do you fix it?
If the policy files associated with this jre being used are not allowing you to create a 2048 bit certificate, you will need to replace the policy files... [More]
How do you restrict the list of values displayed in the change status dialog box within Workorder Tracking application, based on the current status of the workorder?
You might want to prevent users from changing the status of workorders that are in APPR (Approved) status to CAN (Canceled). The following is one way you might accomplish this task.
First, navigate to Condition Expression Manager and create a new conditional expression, such as in the following example:

During a workflow routing action, a user can enter a memo that you might want to include in your communications to other users.
You can add a substitution variable to your communication template to enable the current memo to be included in the email message sent to users when a workflow routing action is performed on a record.
For this to work correctly, the required format for this substitution variable must be:

You attempt to clone an application using application designer in Maximo, and receive the error:
BMXAA4195E - The Application requires a value
One reason for this type of error is that the primarykeycolseq values in Maximo attributes have changed, causing the wrong fields to be validated within Maximo when performing certain actions.
If the primarykeycolseq values are incorrect for the APPLICATIONAUTH attributes, you will receive an error when attempting to clone an application within Maximo. This problem can occur if an... [More]
In Maximo 7.1 and 7.5, storeroom locations are not status-able objects. This means that storerooms that have no inventory items in them, and are no longer in use for any reason, are still available in applications and location lookup dialogs. Currently there is a Request for Enhancement record created to add this functionality to future releases of Tpae, however there is a way to set this up to prevent these storerooms from being visible to users using current releases, without significant administration efforts.
In today's blog post we will be using the iKeyman SSL tool on Windows to create and manage keystores, keys and certificates as well as provide some examples of how we can use this tool. We will describe the differences between self-signed and CA signed certificates, and will be creating a self-signed certificate for signing our own certificate request. Once signed, we will receive our certificates into the keystore our application will use.
iKeyman is shipped with WebSphere application server as well as many other IBM... [More]
I can't decide. Each one sounds so good. Each has features I love. Each has features ...well...I'm not so fond of. And each has possibilities I dream about at night.
How do you decide? Do you make a checklist? Do you go with your gut? Do you get inputs from others?

There are times when you may wish to set a default value for a new attribute on an application, but using a default control or a
crossover domain does not work to set this default value. If you wish to automatically copy a value from one attribute to another
as you are entering the record, then sometimes the best way to do this is with an Automation Script. An Automation Script may
sound daunting but you can create a simple script with only a single line of code that will copy the value from one attribute to... [More]
Hello and happy new year! We have recently added information to the Maximo Asset Management wiki for installing Maximo Asset Management v7.5 and v7.6 within a WebSphere Application Server v8.5.5 Liberty profile environment.
WebSphere Liberty profiles are dynamic in nature and they allow WebSphere to provision only the features needed by the application. This architecture contributes to faster load speed and a smaller footprint.
To install Maximo Asset Management in a WebSphere Application Server v8.5.5 Liberty profile,... [More]

In this blog entry we will look at reducing high email listener email fetch latency which may result when there is be a need to frequently create service requests from IMAP messages that have large documents attached.
To keep things simple, the constants will be a Tpae 7.5.0.X environment and a simple email server program both running on the same system. The initial conditions are the MXServer shut down and a batch of 6 emails, each with a 15 MB PDF attachment, sitting on the email server. The... [More]
