Users can now interact with Maximo Workflow using a smartphone without having to login to Maximo.
Simply reply with "1" to approve the work order and route to the next step in workflow or "2" to cancel the work order.
This solution would be perfect for remote users who needs to route workflow with their smart phones.

After upgrading to Maximo 7.5 many clients have decided to keep on using Issues and Transfer application. One of the reasons for using Issues and Transfer application instead of the new Inventory Usage application is due to training issues. Users do not want to learn a whole new application and business owners do not want to spend money on training.
However, Inventory usage application is actually quite easy to use and it offers all the features available in Issues and Transfer application.
I want to share some of my real world customer support cases from my role at IBM as a Level 2 Support Engineer. A former manager of mine used to interview candidates for technical support jobs by asking them, "Are you running FROM something, or are you running TO something?". There are many good answers to this question, but I've always considered myself to be running TO my various positions in technical client support. I believe that my job is to help other people do THEIR jobs. I want to use this forum to... [More]
So you and your team are ready to make the leap on to the next release of Maximo or SCCD but, there is that looming concern about what is going to happen when you flip the "ON" switch on your go-live date. Will it work? Will performance be acceptable? or will you have to find a safe house to hide from the angry mob of users that can not use the system? You are not alone. Those are the type of questions that keep every Project Manager and System Implementer up at night.
Through collaboration with some of our... [More]

Here's a few questions to get you started:
Is there any need to limit users in one part of your business from seeing or updating data in another part of your... [More]

You can modify WO details in Scheduler application through “Modify Work Details” right click action.
This action is applicable for both single and multiple selected work orders.
If you want to add any new (even custom) fields to this dialog to update a related work order you may want to consider the following steps.
ABC attribute (field) there could be an out of the box WO attribute (field) or a custom attribute (filed).

It might be that you want to add some custom “right click” actions to gantt view in one of Scheduler, Graphical Assignment, or Graphical Crew Manager applications.
To do so you need:
1. Register an action: insert a new record into skdaction table.
insert into skdaction ( skdobjectname , objectname , appletactclass , skdactclass ,title,remark, actionname , ismenubased , skdactionid , multirec , dlgname , menuorder , usewith ) values ('SKDACTIVITY','WORKORDER',' com .... [More]
1. Java code
In Maximo java classes we don't always use the right method to get the unique id value: it always has to be getLong("<uniqid>") .
In the recent code you may find getInt (mostly), getDouble, or even getString to get the unique id value, which can lead to run time errors (and PMRs) in the future (we already fixed (and hotfixed) many issues happening because of that).
Sometime in MAXATTRIBUTE table we don't have sameas definition... [More]
A few years ago at the Pulse conference in Las Vegas I presented on the topic of Organizational Planning in Maximo. I focused on the importance of thinking about how to define many of the entities that make up an organization such as sites, locations, assets, financial structure business process etc. I decided to revisit this topic after talking with clients over the last few years who have "painted" themselves into a corner by defining these entities incorrectly.
One of the things that I... [More]

Hi there, I decided to check in and throw my 2 cents out there on a topic that I think a lot of people might benefit from and that's using Escalations in Maximo.
The Escalations application first came onto the Maximo scene with version 6 and has developed
into a powerful and extremely useful tool that can help to solve many problems.
In Maximo 7 and beyond, escalations can be used against pretty much any Maximo object.
There are many very helpful uses for escalations.....
