Cool new stuff in BigFix MDM

Hey, all. I wanted to try to blog once a week, but so far that hasn’t worked so well. Work, vacation and other stuff have gotten in the way. Sorry.
Today I wanted to talk about a couple of things:
First, one of the new features we put in the latest release of BigFix MDM. See this post if you want to know why I call it BigFix MDM. The new feature is the Security Compliance Dashboard. I am really excited about this feature, as it’s something we are going to continue to add functionality as we evolve and enhance MDM. The basic idea behind this new dashboard is a consolidated view of all your mobile devices and violations that may be present on those devices. Take a look below at the screenshot.
What’s cool about this is that not only can I see the devices that have policy violations, and what those violations are, in typical BigFix fashion; I can also drill down and take actions to remediate them. So, as an example, on my iPhone, I have a blacklisted app. I can choose several remediation paths. In the example below, I send a message to the user.
If, after a period of time, I see the user still hasn’t uninstalled the offending app(s), I can take other measures, depending upon the severity of the policy violation.
Pretty slick stuff, right? As I said, this is our starting point with this feature. In later releases we will add additional functionality to look at more items, and take additional actions. If you have suggestions for things you’d like us to add, leave me a comment, or send me a message.
The second thing I want to highlight is our enhanced functionality with Enterproid Divide. I am really a fan of Divide, as it is the best implementation of a secure container on a mobile device I have seen. It does a great job of separating the corporate data and apps from my stuff on my device. From a BYOD perspective, it’s great. I can have my junk on my phone and tablet, and it’s completely separate from my work stuff. If I, God forbid, ever leave IBM, they can just wipe the whole container, apps and all, and leave my stuff intact. Really good stuff. Check it out.
That’s all I got right now. If you have questions or comments, please send me a message.
