I think that new social media practices in businesses should be first introduced as a test for specific groups before the company decides to adopt any sort of company wide practices. Prior to this adoption, I think that the company should also hold workshops for its employees so that it is clear what the goals are for the platform and how to best represent the company, as well as use. There have been multiple scenarios where employees have done or said something on social media that has not necessarily been meant to speak as the voice of the company but ultimately negatively effects it and causes backlash. I think it is important to ensure that there are rules enforced for how and when social media will be used, as well as what kinds of content will be generated. If the guidelines are clear and the consequences for violating these guidelines are also laid out, hopefully most conflict that arises from miscommunication and misconduct could be avoided. Similarly, employees will be much more inclined to adopt a new technology if they are somewhat familiarized with it beforehand. The more that employees know about its basic features, the more likely they are to use it appropriately and effectively. Conducting an initial test run is a good way to check for errors or misunderstandings before they occur so that social media practices can be more seamless and hopefully have a positive benefit to the company at which they are implemented.
