Hi Team Innovate Durban,
While thinking through the Durban Port/Harbour use case, I recalled a game I use to like known as Harbour Master. It is quite an addictive game for the game lovers :-)
The Description of the game is below.
Relax and let the sounds of the sea transport you far away. You are the Harbour Master in a busy harbour. Direct boats into the docks, watch them unload their cargo, and direct them off the screen. But be careful not to let the boats crash, and watch out for the pirates, monsters, and cyclones!
What if we can use the analytics capability with real time sensing and location services to optimize the supply chain of receiving good at the Durban Port. Keep in mind that it should be the most cost effective, based on cargo/value/importance, solution. We can extend this and depending on operations and activity in the port, and weather conditions, we can suggest/encourage approaching ships to up speed/slow down to meet the optimal delivery time to dock in port.
Check out the game and think through what will be the best idea!!
