As you are probably aware, Visual Configuration Explorer (VCE) is currently available as a "Tech Preview" in ISA Workbench v4.1. ISA workbench v4.1 will be sunset Q1 2015 and replaced with ISA Server v5. I am petitioning here for support for continual ongoing requirement for VCE to be available in ISA Server v5.
VCE development is being continued within IBM by a group of volunteers (including myself)who have a great interest in keeping this tool going. We are currently active in trying to get this tool migrated from ISA 1.4 to ISA 5. Time frame for release we are targeting for Q1 2015, but dont hold us to that as we can only work on tool when time allows outside our day to day job responsibilities as this is a volunteer effort.
I am using this ideation BLOG as a call to those who are currently using VCE to vote and comment who would like to see VCE to be available in ISA v5. Please state your use of VCE (how used (UI , VCE Headless CLI); against which IBM Product sets, integration into other Tools (e.g RAFW), the importance/value to you of seeing this tool continue going into the future.
If I can have some good references on VCE being used out on the field and how it benefits you (time saved, less issues due config changes being caught early, confidence that your WAS environments (Staging, Test and Production) are in sync, etc ) I stand a better chance to get more resources allocated to this effort.
