Rick Swagerman who took over as the DB2 Tech Talks Host from Serge Rielau has just recorded two Tech bits.  Tech bits are shorter recordings on  topics related to DB2.  These two bits are both conversations with IBM Champions to hear their impressions of the latest technology being delivered in DB2 10.5.  

These champions have taken part in the early access beta program for the past few months and were very impressed with what they found and were excited to share their impressions with you:

What a great year it’s been for those involved in the DB2Night Show this year!  The successes include:

1) First running of the “DB2’s Got Talent” Competition

The DB2Night Show’s “DB2’s Got Talent” competition.  This took place in the first few months of the year and continues to please me and others.  Last Friday the winner of the competition, Norberto Gasparotto Filho, gave a presentation about what he learned at the IDUG Prague conference in November.  Norberto won the IDUG pass as a prize for winning the competition and it was his first IDUG conference and his first time in Europe.  I was lucky to be at the conference as well and met Norberto in person.  His smile says it all.  He is very grateful for his chance to go to the conference, but he earned it.  The competition was so successful that it will be repeated in 2012.  If you think you can teach people something they didn’t know about DB2, make sure you become a competitor. I also think this competition was successful in building talents in many other people as well.  Congratulations to all who took part… you should be proud of your successes.

2) Addition of a DB2 z/OS only series hosted by Klaas Brant.

18 episodes took place this year!  What a wonderful first season for Klaas and his guests who included Sheryl Larsen, Dan Luksetich, Namik Hrle, Phil Grainger, Dave Beulke, Cristian Molaro, Julian Stuhler, Surekha Parekh, Susan Visser and Willie Favero, Susan Lawson, John Campbell, Roger Miller, Jeff Josten, and Terry Purcell.

Did you miss any of these shows?  Don’t worry!  All of them are available in replay. 

3) Guest speaker list to die for!

These awards were given out at IOD, but I can’t find an online page to point you to.  I’ll work with Beth Flood to make sure we are aware of the awards.  Scott’s award was: Social Media Contribution (Single Social event) of the Year.  Congratulations Scott!

To celebrate, join Scott, Klaas and a very large group of DB2 experts (top industry speakers, bloggers, champions and more) at the upcoming Eggnog Party:  Celebrating 2011 DB2 Successes and sharing tips and insights for 2012.  We’ll share success stories, both DB2 LUW and z/OS, and give our thoughts and tips for 2012.  The studio audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.

I bet you know an IBM Champion or two!  I know I do.  I’ve blogged about this wonderful group in the past and lovingly call them “IBM’s BEST Friends”.    In IBM’s definition, IBM Champions are thought leaders and advocates who share their opinions and years of experience with people like you.
