Last week I received an email from a friend who was in a bookstore in the Tulsa OK airport. He found the IBM Press book "Can two rights make a wrong". Not many IBM Press books end up in bookstores, especially in airports, because they are not considered mass appeal books like a Microsoft books tend to be. But maybe this is a start!
So instead of looking for DB2 or IBM books in bookstores, try some of the great online bookstores that are available that tend to offer greatly discounted prices. Some of my favourites:
United States: http://www.ibmpressbooks.com(At checkout time, uUse the coupon code IBMSALES to get a 35% discount.)
Canada:http://www.pearsontech.ca/db2(Always a 30% discount)
Europe http://www.pearson-books.com/ibmpressbookshop/ (Always a 35% discount and free shipping to residents of EMEA.)
India:http://www.prakashbooks.com/(Search on DB2. Prices in local currency for residents of India.)
Keep on Learning

Scott Ambler recently contacted me to tell me that he is now an employee of IBM working in the Rational area and that he and co-author Sadalage Pramodkumar have published a book that might be of interest to the database community. Scott gave me a copy of the book and it certainly looks interesting. Take a look at the abstract of the book and let me know what you think:
Refactoring Databases: Evolutionary Database DesignAuthors: Scott W. Ambler, Pramodkumar J. SadalageISBN: 0321293533
This comprehensive guide and reference helps you overcome the practical obstacles to refactoring real-world databases by covering every fundamental concept underlying database refactoring. Using start-to-finish examples, the authors walk you through refactoring simple standalone database applications as well as sophisticated multi-application scenarios. You’ll master every task involved in refactoring database schemas, and discover best practices for deploying refactorings in even the most complex production environments.
The second half of this book systematically covers five major categories of database refactorings. You’ll learn how to use refactoring to enhance database structure, data quality, and referential integrity; and how to refactor both architectures and methods. This book provides an extensive set of examples built with Oracle and Java and easily adaptable for other languages, such as C#, C++, or VB.NET, and other databases, such as DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase.
Using this book’s techniques and examples, you can reduce waste, rework, risk, and cost–and build database systems capable of evolving smoothly, far into the future.
