Free Webinar on Optim portfolio expansion in 2009 and looking ahead
to 2010 THIS WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4.
Since IBM acquired Princeton Softech in 2007, IBM has invested heavily in the portfolio. In 2009, IBM has delivered several new products to the Optim family. The Optim portfolio is designed to offer integrated capabilities to manage enterprise application data from requirements to retirement. With Optim, teams can share data artifacts (like models, policies and metadata) to align data management with business goals and improve collaboration.
And it looks like I missed another DB2Night Show episode! This one was for the z/OS side and featured Julian Stuhler. If you missed it as well, get the replay.
Details about the episode:
In episode #Z08, special guest Julian Stuhler (IBM Gold Consultant, IBM Champion and former IDUG president) gave an excellent overview of the many ways you can exploit DB2 using the Java programming language; varying from simple JDBC to PureQuery. But he also discussed the impedance mismatch between Java and Relational Databases and the new features in DB2 9 and DB2 10 which Java can benefit from. If you are into Java then this DB2Night Show episode is a must!

Join DB2 expert Kelly Schlamb and panelists Ben Ream and Debbie Hauss as they discuss The New Rules Of Always-On Retailing in a free webinar.
Date: Tuesday, December 18th, 2012
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Retailers have specific database needs, especially this time of year. Any outages to a retailer's computer systems, quickly means loss of revenue. To help retailers ensure that their systems can handle unexpected transaction spikes and to adjust to new demands quickly, retailers must deploy and manage a continuously available environment. A continuously available environment means transactional data can be accessed in real time.
The best data management systems evaluate the performance of each specific task, offering new levels of availability and scalability on distributed platforms and enabling extreme workload capacity while cutting costs across the enterprise. Learn how DB2 pureScale can minimize outages and keep systems up and running.
Register for this webinar to hear how retailers can leverage advanced data management in order to maximize their capacity to fill orders and process transactions. Attendees also will learn how to respond to demand spikes easily, meet SLA demands with proper workload management, and address performance concerns in order to ‘keep the lights on’ at all times.
• Kelly Schlamb, WW IM Technical Sales Acceleration, IBM
• Ben Ream, Principal Retail Analyst, Ream Consulting Services
• Debbie Hauss, Editor-in-Chief, Retail TouchPoints
Ember Crooks writes a blog called DB2 Commerce and she focuses on issues related to the retail industry.
Two recent articles in the IBM Data Management Magazine were about retailing and were written by IBM Champion Scott Hayes:
