IBM was founded in 1911 and has achieved amazing transformations through its history. History does not tend to repeat itself especially in terms of technology, but history is very useful to help us to invent the future. IBMers have clearly taken innovation very seriously and you’ll see this in our history as well as the number of patents that IBMers earn each year.
Where are we going in the future? Take a look at these films and upcoming book that celebrate our past as a clue to where we will be going in the future. Very exciting times, indeed!
IBM Centennial Film: 100 X 100 - A century of achievements that have changed the world
The film features one hundred people, who each present the IBM achievement recorded in the year they were born. The film chronology flows from the oldest person to the youngest, offering a whirlwind history of the company and culminating with its prospects for the future.
IBM Centennial Film: They Were There - People who changed the way the world works
What does it mean to be an IBMer? Every employee experiences the company in different ways, but the global impact IBM has made on business and society over the last 100 years gives us all a common framework. "They Were There" is told by first-hand witnesses—current and retired employees and clients—who were there when IBM helped to change the way world works.
New book: Later this year, you’ll be able to read a new book that is being created for the Centennial event.
Besides this amazing event, don’t forget about the Jeopardy event with IBM Watson. See my blog created in December: Watson competing on Jeopardy - who will win??
I plan do do another blog entry soon to give you an update on all the media coverage this event has received. Plus, to remind you that the show will be appearing on TV soon: US TV Schedule for Jeopardy.
