Along the same lines as my last post, I'd like to give you a suggestion as to how you can prepare to pass for Exam 733. We do NOT have a book in the works to accompany the DB2 9 Application Development Exam 733. If you are getting ready to take the exam, here are a few ideas to help you prepare for the test despite the lack of a dedicated book.
Read the book by Roger Sanders: DB2(R) Universal Database V8.1 Certification Exam 703 Study Guide. This book prepares people to pass the V8 Application Development Exam 703. If you want this book... buy it right away. The series of V8 study guides published by IBM Press are considered out of print by the publisher, so the only copies of the book that you can get are the ones that are sitting in inventory. No reprints are possible.
Tip: You may be able to save 35% on the purchase of this and any other books at the IBM Press Bookstore. For a limited time, you can save 35% off your order when you make a purchase at the IBM Press Bookstore on or between October 15, 2007 and December 31, 2007. PLUS you can receive FREE ground shipping in the U.S. To take advantage of this special offer, simply visit the IBM Press Bookstore, select your books and enter case-sensitive coupon code SAVEDB2 at Step 3 during checkout. See IBM Information Management Books for links and details.
Read the IBM DB2 9 New Features book to learn the new functions for DB2 9. I'd pay particular attention to the XML sections.
Exam 733 also has a series of tutorials that were created to help you prepare to pass it: DB2 9 Application Development Certification Exam Preparation TutorialsThis series of nine tutorials has been developed to help you prepare for the DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Application Development Certification Exam (733). Each tutorial includes a link to a DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows trial download at no charge to you! These tutorials provide a solid base for each section of the exam. However, you should not rely on these tutorials as your only preparation for the exam. After a quick registration, you can begin a tutorial. Each tutorial should take about an hour to complete. You can take the tutorials online, or download a PDF.
For this exam, I recommend that you gauge your readiness by taking the assessment exam.
I've had quite a few people in the Toronto Lab successfully pass Exam 733 using this strategy.
