ChannelDB2.com site! Are you one? I am... and I have joined many of the groups, created some groups and discussions. If you're not a member yet... take a look and consider joining.
What is ChannelDB2? It is a social networking site that collects people who are interested in IBM's database technologies. Members can build a network of "friends" as you can do on most social networking sites. What is unique is that there is an aggregate feed of a bunch of bloggers... so this is an easy way to keep up with all the latest news. There are videos, papers, presentations, photos, and free books that can be accessed from this site. Really it is the most complete collection of DB2-related content.
There are groups for niche groups. You can even create a group if you have a niche that you'd like to communicate with. I've noticed that the site is heavily used by students around the world who are trying to learn DB2, get certified on DB2, and perhaps looking for work too.
The group that I take part in the most often is DB2 in Books. Given that my job is to get books published, it isn't surprising that this is my group. I've invited every author who I've worked with to also join the group so you can interact directly with me or authors via this group.
Colleagues on my team run the certification, education, tutorials, and Redbooks programs as well, so I try to relay to you the information that I get from my team so that you are aware of the latest news as it happens.
I'm also actively working on the My developerWorks site to add content where needed. Right now there may be duplication between My developerWorks and ChannelDB2... but I'm sure that eventually one of these will become more prominent.
One question for you ... I'm happy to see that there are more than 2000 members to the site, but not many people have joined a group. I wonder why? If you are a member of a group you can take part in discussions and can control the amount of information you get back from the other group members.
So, if you aren't a member, I hope you check it out... and join: ChannelDB2.com.
And join a group! Specifically, join my group: DB2 in Books and add me as your friend!
See you on ChannelDB2!
