Stephen Covey was our motivational speaker and gave the keynote on Wednesday morning. Personally I am motivated by this kind of message, so it made a deep impact on me. I spent 2 hours managing the book signing for Stephen's books. He sold out of 300 copies of books and spent time with each person who had a book for him to sign. I over heard him mentioning "trimtab" to most of the people. A trimtab is a relatively small piece on the rudder of a huge ship. It is the trimtab that moves to make the rudder move, and therefore the ship. Stephen's message is that we are all trimtabs and we all have the power to make huge changes in our workplaces... we just have to act. The videos he showed at the keynote about the inner city school and the crime in NY subways illustrated his points very well. His book "The 8th Habit" has pointers to a website where videos can be found and the concept of a trimtab is more fully explained.
I offered to take photos of people shaking hands with Stephen Covey, but many people forgot to bring their cameras. I had my camera, so I took the photos. I loaded the photos on my facebook site and sent an email to all those people who gave me business cards. I hope you enjoyed your photo... if you got one..
I have to get through some email right now..... and will post later about the keynote and book signings with Chris Anderson and Carl Kessler.
