After the learning, what to do in Tampa

My second favourite thing to do when at a conference is to network with the other attendees. First is taking advantage of all the learning opporuntiies, of course!
IDUG is my favourite conference to go to as well because the organizers and attendees are so friendly and easy to meet. In the true sense of the word, IDUG is a community... and sometimes feels like a family. I'm sure if you've been to a conference, you know what I mean. If you haven't, I hope you get a chance to go. It might change the direction of your career. For instance, perhaps you will be encouraged to follow in the footstep of the IDUG board members and get more involved, or put together a presentation for future years! I hope you do!
The IDUG committee has arranged a fun way for you to meet others while at the conference. They call it Dine Around with DB2 Experts. Here is what's on the agenda so far:
Phil Grainger and Judy Ruby-Brown at Thai Thani;
Phil Nelson, Dave Beulke and Fred Sobotka at Stumps;
Bill Minor and Mike Winer at Tampa Bay Brewing Company;
Bonnie Baker and Sheryl Larsen at the Spaghetti Warehouse;
Chris Eaton and Scott Hayes at the Laughing Cat.
What a tough decision! My suggestion is that you choose a location based on the food that you like. Or, how about you choose to hang out with the people you know the least? Since I know all the people who are hosting, I wouldn't be able to select based on who I liked... because I like them all and would be very happy to hang out with them for hours!
This event is taking place on Thursday evening at May 13. Have you joined the LinkedIN IDUG group? Join to get more information about this event from those taking place.
Become a fan of IDUG on Facebook to keep up to date with what is going on.
One more thing that I'd like to mention.... If you aren't very comfortable traveling alone, consider this new program offered by IDUG that can help you bring someone new to the event: IDUG Mentor. Bottom line? You can bring a newbie to the conference for an 80% disount. See the website for details.

Learn plenty, but have fun by meeting people and getting involved!
